Έχουμε τη χαρά να φιλοξενούμε στο Quilombo έναν από τους σπουδαιότερους δασκάλους του Αφροβραζιλιάνικου χορού, σε ένα διήμερο εργαστήριο χορού. Ο Carlos Ujhama (IABACE) είναι ένας άνθρωπος που εκτός από την πρακτική διαδικασία έχει αφιερώσει μεγάλο μέρος της ζωής του στη θεωρητική έρευνα σχετικά με την αφροβραζιλιάνικη κουλτούρα.

Το αντικείμενο της διδασκαλίας του κινείται σε διαφορετικούς άξονες: Dance, technique, laboratory and artistic fusion for contemporary dance,
symbologies, movements and analyzes of the Brazilian afro “myths” (orixás, voduns, inquirices and caboclos)
folk dances (folk, social and carnival)
basic elements for modern and contemporary dance
percussion training (traditional and popular rhythms)

We have the pleasure to host one of the most important Afrobrazilian dance teachers for a two days workshop in Quilombo. Carlos Ujhama is a man who devoted his life not only to the practice but to the research of the Afro-brazilian culture.

His teaching is based on different axes:
Dance, technique, laboratory and artistic fusion for contemporary dance,
symbologies, movements and analyzes of the Brazilian afro “myths” (orixás, voduns, inquirices and caboclos)
folk dances (folk, social and carnival)
basic elements for modern and contemporary dance
percussion training (traditional and popular rhythms)

In this workshop meet the revolutionary mood of Samba afro and Samba reggae and enjoy dancing through the instructions of a teacher with great experience and love for Afrobrazilian culture.

Born in the city of Salvador / BA, Carlos Ujhama is part of the genuineness of Afro-Brazilian cultural expressions and expressions.
He obtained his first dance training in 1996, through the Arts Center of SESC – BA, under the guidance of Raimundo Bispo dos Santos “Master KING” (first man to enter the Degree in Dance of the Federal University of Bahia, in 1972, considered the precursor of Afro dance, being responsible for disseminating Afrodescendant culture through dance).

He began his career as a popular Bahian artist, under the coordination of Antonio Cozido (trained in dance by the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and postgraduate in choreography, by the same institution, working with artists of all generations of Axé Music), where he was part of the Dance Company of Rua Suingue Afro Baiano, acting as a dancer, and in the House of Dance, founded by Cozido, where he began his first steps as a dance teacher in 1999.
He was part of the FUNCEB Dance School Extension Group, under the direction of Paco Gomes, together with the “Trafico de Movimentos” Company, debuting the show “No Compromisso” at the 1999 Recife Dance Festival. Throughout the period of work with Cia. Trafico, he participated effectively in the activities of the school and the group, in several regions of Bahia.

Artistic director, choreographer and dance teacher.
